Thanks for sending me an example file privately.  Here's the instructions on how to do what you want: How to get an single image out of a panoramic image file, basically using Hugin in reverse of what it's designed for: 1. Load your image with hugin in simple mode (it's the default mode unless you've changed it) by clicking the "Load images..." button under the "Assistant" tab.  Once you've opened the image set the lens type, also under the assistant tab, to "Panoramic (cylindrical)"  that will set the proper image type of your camera so that the program knows what you feeding it. 2. Then click on the "projection" tab and change the projection type to "Rectilinear".  You will see the preview look like the image is destroyed... it's not, it's exactly what we need it to be, just move the sliders at the bottom and side of the preview to zoom waaaay into the very middle of the image and you will notice that the image will look more like a regular photograph. 3. Now all that left to do is to click on the "Move/Drag" tab and pan the image around till you get the image that you need. 4. Finally to get your image out of hugin click on the "Assistant" tab and click the "Create panorama..." button.  Then set the "LDR Format" to JPG or PNG (unless you really want a TIFF) and click OK. Hope that helps, Brian Cluff On 11/6/18 8:27 AM, Michael wrote: > well... hugin knows what kind of picture it is and when I select the > 'projection' tab the display on the panoshere is perfect but how do I > cut into it and unwind portions of it? > > On Mon, Nov 5, 2018 at 2:15 PM Michael > wrote: > > I got an answer to my problem using Gimp.
