This position will be part of a DevOps service oriented team responsible for delivering solutions as required with a focus on automation, innovation and support for our 24x7x365 high-availability university education services. The Linux Administrator role is versatile and will share in responsibilities for supporting the provisioning, installation & configuration, daily operations, and maintenance of compute resources and applications within GCU’s internal and external cloud infrastructures. This role will also include working closely with application developers to handle rapid platform deployments and releases. Other responsibilities will be ensuring system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to industry best practices and compliance in support of our GCU business objectives and student experience. Responsibilities: - Experienced subject matter expertise in various technologies such as Linux (CentOS), Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, virtualization, networking, storage and scripting. - Planning, coordination and communications skills with the ability to move projects forward. - DevOps openness to see problems or issues from various angles, and a willingness to discuss and vet solutions until a common goal or idea is agreed on. - The ability to adapt and adjust as required with a positive attitude until business needs are met. - Moderate to high level scripting experience using Bash, Perl, PowerShell and other coding/scripting languages as required to successfully create automation processes via service APIs or configuration tools. - Moderate to high understanding of systems architecture from the application through the server hardware stack. - Proven experience in creating successful designs, development and implementation of high availability systems, applications and related services. - In-depth technical knowledge of current infrastructure protocols, business platforms, middleware, internet standards, and database software. - Excellent problem solving and decision making skills that will assist in remediation of software or hardware issues. - Familiarity with agile project management techniques including Scrum and Lean processes for organizing, time management and meeting deadlines. - Self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team, as directed with a keen attention to detail and willingness to assume responsibility. - Ability to interpret complex technical information. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (computer science, information technology, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent work experience, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science. - 7+ years of relevant technical experience working in a large, enterprise environment. - An equivalent combination of directly-related work experience and education may be substituted upon supervisor’s approval. - Any related technical certifications a plus. - Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
