Could you make an educated recommendation as to a tutorial/manual I could use? a quick search (learn BASH) turned up a great many but I do not know if they are any good. I mean I looked here> http://linuxcommand.org/lc3_learning_the_shell.php , but what makes it any better/worse than here> http://ryanstutorials.net/linuxtutorial/ or here> http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/ ? I beleive this last one is the most authoritative but that also often means not newbie-friendly. :-)~MIKE~(-: On Mon, Mar 2, 2015 at 12:10 AM, koder wrote: > I would second James' reccomnedations. > > Learning bash scripting gives a tool for knowing and controlling your > system. > > Once you learn one language the others come easier because you understand > the principles. > > Python, java, ruby and the plethora of new languages will give you more > options. > > I am not sure if Awk is technically a language or not, and it is a bear, > but you can use it to make your system whistle Dixie.
