It's been a while since I did an LFS install, but I assume you have a partition mounted on `/mnt/lfs`. If that's the case the easiest thing is to recreate the filesystem. Imagine mount shows something like: /dev/sdb1 on /mnt/lfs type ext4 (rw) You would un mount the filesystem: umount /mnt/lfs Re-create the filesystem mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb1 and remount it mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/lfs Then you should have an empty filesystem waiting for you.
