Lots of different types of developers in lots of different areas, but if you live in New York city or San Francisco and get paid under 6 figures as a developer you are not making a good living. Likewise if you live in Phoenix and make that same $99k you live like a king. Point being national averages are pretty misleading statistics. -- Paul Mooring Systems Engineer and Customer Advocate www.opscode.com From: keith smith > Reply-To: Main PLUG discussion list > Date: Friday, May 3, 2013 9:27 AM To: Main PLUG discussion list > Subject: OT: Developer Pay I happened upon this article. It says "According to figures from the Department of Labor, this job fetches a median salary that's just under six figures at $99,000. Those in the bottom 10 percent make about $62,800, and the top 10 percent is sitting pretty at $148,850." Seems a little high. http://education.yahoo.net/articles/six_high-paying_careers.htm?svkid=1O0V0&usid=05e1ed9e-6dfc-4855-8d91-339a0c9b2acf ------------------------ Keith Smith
