Is mplayer able to play the realaudio file through your speakers with just $ mplayer The_Zero_Hour_08_14_44.rm If so, I'm not sure what's wrong as your command line looks ok. If not, you might be missing the realaudio codecs. On ubuntu, you can install w32codecs (32bit) or w64codecs (64bit) for realaudio support from the medibuntu repositories. I'm not sure about other distros.
