Forgot to copy plug..... Mark ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Mark Phillips Date: Wed, Jan 19, 2011 at 5:35 PM Subject: Re: Having Problems with Xsane To: Lisa Kachold OK, I fixed all the errors with hp-scan -t. I installed python-qt4, cupsddk, libcups2-dev, libcupsimage2-dev, dbus, libjpeg62, libsnmp-dev, libusb-1.0-0 and libsane-dev. I now get this from hp-scan -t (see below). However, I still cannot access the scanner, and have this warning from hp-scan: warning: Printer is not HPLIP installed. Printers must use the hp: or hpfax: CUPS backend to function in HPLIP. After a lot of searching, I installed hplip-gui. It has a "add device option" and I added the printer again, and now I can scan. The added printer uses hpcups, but when I installed the printer using cups and selecting hpcups I could not access the scanner. Thanks for the help Mark mark@orca:~$ hp-check -t HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.10.6) Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.3 Copyright (c) 2001-9 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run. 3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).
