I was having trouble with a machine I upgraded and found a solution. Unfortunately, that machine has no video card at the moment so I can't check for events/0. But the problem did have to do with some sluggishness and intermittent wireless connectivity and it was also using a rt2500 like in that bug report. I can't find the reference I found before but here is another though it lists no solution: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1484450&page=1 The solution I found claimed that it was an old bug that got re-introduced into the kernel driver and that the fix had been committed so would be re-fixed in the next kernel. In the meantime, the problem fix can be tested with "sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off" from a terminal (your interface may be other than wlan0). This apparently turns off a frequent activity to power down the card or something like that. Once I did this the machine was fine until I had to steal the video card for the club computer.
