Effective communication is the hallmark of the astute socialized human being: 1) Clearly state that you are not requesting "Linux Support" - you can provide that yourself. 2) You are pealing an onion; "I am sorry Sir, we don't support Linux" - "Could you verify connectivity to the "modem" please?" - "We cannot help someone using Linux...." - "Could you verify connectivity to the premise real quickly please [this is the same thing I did with high speed fractional frame circuits with Qwest for USWest, BTW!]? 3) Ask very plainly that they escalate your ticket unresolved to the next tier of support or a supervisor. You are going to deal with a great many humans in this life who do not speak english (clearly "support" does not mean "control") and many others who frankly don't understand half of what you do; start now to develop empathy, kindness and gentle pro-active process solutions. Don't get upset, don't react, simply kindly request in an even calm way a solution until resolved. Leaving off all resentment of stupidity is right behind the ego defense of intellectual arrogance on the way to happiness and success. Most humans however strange, do have some very endearing qualities when you learn how to work with them!
