MIke, I have been using Debian "testing" for more years than I care to mention on multiple laptops and desktop computers with very few problems. Upgrades rarely break, and when they do the output from apt-get is usually enough to fix the problem - usually a dependency, and if I install a couple of the dependant modules by hand everything works.
