One thing you should do is write down what you are doing as you go along. Keep
a logbook. Change one thing at a time when you are trying to debug/solve 
problems. Then you will have a record of what you did, and what you had to
change in order to make things work. It might seem like a pain to begin with,
but in the long run it will probably save you time.
