Thank you Eric "Shubes", David Bendit, Nathan Aubrey, chip33az@ netscape.net, and John Schember! If I missed someone, please forgive me! And let me know! I think I must have entered something strange when I tried to configure the card manually before I found the network tool. OR Let me explain. I did a new install from a the single disk of xubuntu. Yesterday when I added the linux-restricted-modules-generic it gave no indication of any problem. Today it gave an error stating there was some missing modules that it could not retrieve. So I changed cards to my NIC and wala in 30 seconds I was able to configure it with the GUI tool and tried the apt-get again .... off it went for a while too. So in restrospect a module or driver or something must have been missing.... Oh well both the NIC and the WIFI work. Even added the WEP Key!!! Life is good!!!!! Thanks Again, Keith PS I'm sending this via my laptop wirelessly! Sounds like it's using DHCP then. > How can I remove the startic IP? What's in your /etc/network/interfaces?
