While I worked there over a year ago they had a policy that any one godaddy customer could do a back order. Now that does not stop other registrars from creating one or more back orders. I think godaddy want to be fair in a M$ kinda way :) from what I saw. Now since I said that there will be a process server at my door in the next few days with a court order for me to stop talking about them. So shhhhhh nobody tell on me :) I did find one disturbing change. I moved a client to their hosting and could not recall how to check the site before changing the name servers. I checked on line for more than afew minutes. 2 calls to customer support and both times I was offered a static IP and was told there was no temp URL anymore. Hummmm ... Thanks to someone on this or another list I was able to check the site and ftp directly to it by changing my computers DNS to the hosting name servers. Was a real cool solution. I was enlightened a bit about the whole process (thanks!). As of a few minutes ago, I am the new owner of the domain that I had backordered. No hidden costs or anything. It's just mine for a bit more than I would have paid for a normal registration, after a fairly short wait. Now I have the .COM to go with my .NET domain. Yah! After I had less than glowing things to say before, just thought I should let you know the process worked fine after all. -- Darrin Chandler | Phoenix BSD Users Group dwchandler@stilyagin.com | http://bsd.phoenix.az.us/ http://www.stilyagin.com/ | --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss - - - - - - - Keith Smith - - - - - - - http://travelingcheese.com/search_engine/increase-search-engine-traffic.html - - - - - - - --------------------------------- Want to start your own business?
