I get a couple of e-mails/day, and a few phone messages a week from recruiters. My current position was my first experience with a recruiter, and I am also avoiding another position with a headhunter. I am unsure if this particular company is bad, or if over the whole spectrum I can expect bad mngt from recruiters. My first bad taste, was when I asked and was given a 5% raise, only to find out a few pay periods later when looking at my pay stub, and asking mngt, that the raise had somehow been 'frozen'; but they didn't bother letting me know until I noticed my pay was short. Currently, It's open enrollment time for benefits, and I decided that my partners benefits are cheaper/better for insurance, so I have asked to return to the hourly rate, versus the salaried rate with benefits. I am now being quoted almost a dollar short, from my hiring rate of pay for hourly work. I am applying for jobs now that do not have a recruiter/third party, but it's a smaller playing field. Hopefully I can find employment with a company that is hiring, and can avoid these recruiting goons(for lack of a better term). I'm noticing a trend lately where good people are actually refusing to work with recruiters due to the tactics they've employed in recent years. I personally refuse to deal with them at all. Many companies are starting to notice the problem with giving the HR department the steering wheel (and they wonder why their teams are totally dysfunctional). Also a big problem is overseas outsourcing agents (mainly from Asia) posting job ads for market research purposes and Visa fraud. Very obnoxious. My advice: never send your resume to someone who you have not spoken with on the phone. -jmz On 10/18/06, Joseph Sinclair wrote: Am I the only one here who's pretty tired of this Azita person basically spamming the list? An occasional job posting is fine, but these frequent postings *using BCC* are just plain irritating.
