Your welcome. I always get the .com. I had a .org in 2000 and no one could ever find it. They always type the .com. I do think users are more sophisticated now though. Here is the process. The process may differ by registrar. The first day after the domain expires will most likely be the first day of the grace period. The grace period lasts for days to over a month, while the registrar continues to have control over the domain. During this period the domain can be registered at the regular rate, under most circumstances. Next the domain is returned to the Registry. This is the redemption period. During this period the domain can be re-registered by the owner but at a much higher rate. An $8.95 renewal may become a $120.00 redemption fee. If the domain is not redeemed it will go into a 5 day deletion period. No one can touch the domain during the deletion period. > - - - - > The domain must go through this process that may take about 80 days to complete. I just wish I'd wanted to register this *before* it was expired. I would have written to the owners and offered to buy it from them. There's a good chance that they would have sold for a reasonable price, since they had taken their site down and replaced it with "whoever is trying to hack us, it's not funny and you should stop!" In any case, I have the .net already. I'd just like the .com to go with it, since it's likely some people will type it in by mistake. -- Darrin Chandler | Phoenix BSD Users Group dwchandler@stilyagin.com | http://bsd.phoenix.az.us/ http://www.stilyagin.com/ | --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss - - - - - - - Keith Smith - - - - - - - http://travelingcheese.com/search_engine/increase-search-engine-traffic.html - - - - - - - --------------------------------- How low will we go?
