I personally rate Compaq systems as having the lowest general Linux compatibility of all major brands. I had a similar problem with memory on a Compaq desktop Ubuntu install. It is surprising that BSD was easier for you, it may be just a function of your personal familiarity with BSD. I do not recommend BSD for general use, its ideal for high-security applications. -jmz On 9/23/06, Darrin Chandler wrote: > > Compaq Presario 1920 > > > On Sat, Sep 23, 2006 at 04:41:01PM -0700, Joshua Zeidner wrote: > > Darrin, > > > > What was the model of the laptop? > > > > -jmz > > > > On 9/23/06, Darrin Chandler wrote: > > > > > >I had what was probably the most painful install experience of my > entire > > >life trying to put kubuntu on an older laptop.
