OK, here is the file /boot/grub/menu.lst : ------------------------------------------------------------------ # modified by Yast2. They do not show up in the Konqueror view of "media" folder though. Is all of this related? Shouldn't they show up in "media"? As per your first comment (below), in the "Bootloader Setting" panel of "Section Management", I do not see an option dealing with "chainoader", only a listing for /dev/sda1and a drop\down menu selection to change for /dev/fd0, then /dev/sda2, sda3, etc thru 7. The output of /dev/sda: seems to be (a nicely colored panel) saying: windows/C /dev/sda3 /dev/sda4 swap / /home 8.3GB 8.9GB 13.3GB 753.0MB 17.3GB 25.9GB I see some things in this code that I could try and play with myself, having reasoned a few things out (I think!), but I am afraid to do anything on my own for fear of never getting the data in the Windows partition back. I am no big fan of Windows, but lots of my old files that I need are there! Once again, thank you! From the first screen you posted, though, I'd click on "WINDOWS Other /dev/sda1" and click Edit. Then look for some sort of chain loader option to select. If you post the edit screen, I might be of more help. Alternatively, if you post your grub (/boot/grub/menu.lst) or lilo (/etc/lilo.conf) configuration file, we could probably tell you how to fix it. Your system looks ok from what I can see. Just need to get the boot loader configuration straightened out.
