I'm not sure either of these changes need to happen.
I see both of these as MASSIVE overkill.
 
Realistically, does the site have enough content to manage?
 
I can see stripping the site to a very simple form:  A listing of upcoming meetings and their topics, and a few links to the mailing list pages.
