I Have had COX internet service for over 4 years now. I had the back
when they offered Cable download and phone upload, and I HAVE NO
COMPLAINTS.... I hade the service on Frank Llyodd Wright and 92nd St,
as well as Via Linda and Shea, and now at 92nd and Shea. I have had the
same IP for over 2 years, and my speeds vary on the server I am
accessing. If I dl from Oracle now (10:30PM) and again tommorrow at say
noon yes it is slower, that is NOT a cox issue.I have the same
upload/download speeds according to most speed test servers all day and
al night. I live in a condo complex, and I have a weak signal. I dl at
3mbs all day long if the servers can provide it, and my up is roughly
128kbps or better. I also have a web server up and running utilizing
port 9999 and a ssh server at port 21 or 22. I have uploaded and
downloaded many large files, and I have never had an issue with Cox. I
have a Fiber line less than 100 feet away from me. I would say that at
AZ51 and Shea you alos have Fiber close. I would not hesitate to get
Cox, under any circumstance, unless of course you move to the central
areas of the cities.. Those are the oldest, and have only cat 3 on the
phone lines, and Cable I am unsure of. Last I knew Cox was upgrading
the whole area, and this part was one of the last areas. That was 3
years ago.

Subject: Broadband
Service in the Phoenix Metro Area
Hey all,
i'll be moving to phoenix just before the first of the year and i need
some suggestions for a broadband service provider. i'm not planing to
have a land-line telephone so i don't know if DSL is a possibility,
but if you can do DSL without active phone service (you couldn't in
Milwaukee), I'll take that as an option.
Besides Cox and Qwest, what are my other options? I'm looking for the
best cost/performance ratio (but i'd prefer a lower cost).
Jon
