This is a necessary program to fill the gap in semiconductor tech hiring. There are plenty of engineers to be had, but there is a chronic labor shortage across the entire industry for fab techs that know how to turn a wrench and work a voltmeter. This labor shortage has persisted for about a decade or so.

Shoring up these kind of jobs will be necessary not just for Arizona but for the entire nation if we want to keep semiconductor jobs local.
