The author sounds like he's never used
linux, or mac/win versions of office if he thinks they run
flawlessly. Mac office is far worse/incomplete than the win
version, and even using office2013 under windoze I find it crashes
constantly, and loses data when even though it's supposed to
backup every 10 minutes, will find it really hasn't for sometimes
hours. This is flipping unacceptable, and has been making my life
hell working with a client windoze7 image to interface with them.
I have my grievances with libre office, but I've never lost data,
even on a brand new, unsaved file, and it'll always just restore
all the old working copies perfectly. Win Office I need to at
times go hunt down what I was just working on, and pray it backed
up before it crashed. It ends up usually showing me the wrong
version of the file, and again I'll lose work just for choosing
the wrong time of backup. Latest always, please! Whatever I had
open, all of it! NOT hard.
Mac ports are terribly inferior, especially lync components for
chat, and we were flat out told as even a m$ partner they will
*never* be made as good as windoze counterparts for obvious
reasons.
I really can't believe people still pay for office, or windoze,
but sadly all the format templates this company uses for documents
is word-based that libre looks at and distorts to hell. So much
for "open xml",.. Thanks microsoft, the lock-in continues.
