Yup, the upgrade to 6.06 from 5.10 went off painlessly. My $gf upgraded her own box :). I did have to point out 'new version' button, but otherwise she was able to handle it herself! The upgrade tool really needs to allow downloading the packages and then doing the upgrade later. They warn to quit all programs before doing the upgrade. I didn't, of course :). Everything worked fine up until the end, but then the graphical stuff went all wonky :(. The reboot for the new kernel and new X got everything in order. The graphical interface looks nicer to me and the system feels a lot more responsive. I've found a couple of problems, but mostly it's working wonderfully. Ubuntu continues to impress me as an excellent version of the debian distro. ciao, der.hans -- # https://www.LuftHans.com/ http://www.CiscoLearning.org/ # Join the League of Professional System Administrators! https://LOPSA.org/ # Freedom isn't everything, but without freedom you have nothing. - der.hans
