Why is it that the fact that the LiveCD version doesn't have the ability to install disqualifies it from the installfest? The LiveCD was built with the idea of being a Knoppix-like CD -- not something that's meant to be installed. In the stamped CDs (and downloadable ISOs) of Warty, Canonical provided a set of two CDs: a LiveCD (the one you downloaded), and the installer CD. The LiveCD was meant to test Ubuntu on as many different machines as possible and to try out the distribution before installing it to be sure that it was something you wanted. The installer, however, was meant to be used for installation to the hard drive. So... if you'll excuse the pun... where's the beef? =o) > > The LiveCD of Ubuntu is not to be used for installation with -- more for > > evaluation of the Ubuntu Linux distribution. > > I think a distribution that is easy to install needs to be a requirement. But Ubuntu takes a maximum of about three to four presses of the enter key to install in normal mode -- how much simpler does it have to be? =o) DISCLAIMER: This is was not intended to be a distro-flame of any sort -- please do not take it as such. Thanks. =o) -- June Tate * june@theonelab.com * http://www.theonelab.com
