ok guess i meant to say pci i have 2.4 kernal and not going to upgrade $12 Tchang Zu cards: do they work in linux? have you used this one before with linux and it's perfectly alright if it doesn't work with windows, in fact i like that. mike FoulDragon@aol.com wrote: PCMCIA? o.O I don't know of any PCMCIA sound cards, period. Do you mean PCI? Just go get the list of present support from alsa. The 2.6 kernel integrates alsa drivers, so it's probably accurate. A problem is when you buy those $12 Tchang Zu cards (the ones where it announces "4D 8.2 positional sound and makes your tea too!" on the box) rarely do you see the chipset listed on the box. Pray for a good return policy. I used a CMI8738 card for a while, decent basic card, but apparently some driver problems in Windows Most onboard sound's supported too. I recall SiS 735 worked fine, but a hard setup, a long time ago. 745 I think had detection problems, and apparently recent VIA stuff works too (both the old 686A southbridge series and the newer ones) My site http://www.solodiver.net --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? vote.yahoo.com - Register online to vote today!
