Interestingly enough, I've been graphing my modem's power levels since about 2am (when I finished writing my own script for my Motorola SB4200, thanks for the idea!), and the Rx level has been increasing as the day's worn on, and the Tx level too. Also, SNR has gone steadily down throughout the reporting period. http://mrtg.bryceco.net/mrtg/spec/cablemodem.html The wire is brand new (1 year old June) from the street, almost directly to the cable modem, no TVs. If I 'm reading this graph correctly, SNR, (I'm assuming that stands for signal to noise ratio), appears to pretty much mirror the RX entry, and is relatively flat. > > I'd also like to know what specific component(s) the Cox guy thinx are affected by the heat. Bounded media above ground maybe a bit, but stuff buried shouldn't be affected. Just a guess, but this loox like maybe a deteriorating connector or the MODEM is going south, (overheating?). I'd also investigate bridge taps. > > When the circuit goes, does it fade out, or just be gone immediately? > > Frank > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Austin Godber" > To: > Sent: Friday, March 26, 2004 11:06 PM > Subject: Re: OT Re: FastQ > > > > Bryce C wrote: > > > Unrelated: How has the heat come close to destroying your Cox > > > connections?
