If your running KDE, go to System settings -> Application Style -> 
Window Decorations.
Down at the bottom is "Border Size".  Adjust appropriately for your needs.

This is were it is on Plasma 5.  I know the same setting exists on KDE 4 
and it's probably in the same/similar place.
