Hi, Mark. I've had this happen before and it's usually that X has blown up and not started correctly. Have you tried just switching to a text terminal to see if the system has actually started except for X? If you can log into a text terminal, you have a chance of troubleshooting/fixing. If your systems all get DHCP leases from your router, you can also take a look at the active leases and see if the Knoppix system actually appears to be booted far enough along to be on the network. Pings to validate it's alive and then potentially ssh for login/troubleshooting might work if none of the displays locally are working. Cheers. -----Original Message----- From: plug-discuss-bounces@lists.phxlinux.org [mailto:plug-discuss-bounces@lists.phxlinux.org] On Behalf Of Mark Jarvis Sent: Sunday, October 05, 2014 22:55 To: Main PLUG discussion list Subject: knoppix The venerable CD of my old favorite, knoppix, having died, I downloaded the 64 bit DVD ISO (I have a 64 bit system) & burned it to a DVD. I booted from the DVD and at the boot prompt typed the knoppx64 option. It started off just fine, then went to a totally blank screen. The last couple of lines before it went blank went by too fast to really notice. The md5sum of the downloaded ISO matches. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is, and more importantly, what to do about it? Many thanks for any help! --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.phxlinux.org To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.phxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.phxlinux.org To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.phxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
