There is an rpm for Fedora (17 & 18) that lets you set up a system to do OCR

just ad the rpm to your yum.repos.d list and install the apps witht he
normal tools
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jsuarezr:/OCRFeeder/Fedora_18/noarch/

post a review if you get some results
