Not sure what you were expecting. That is the method for turning a SRC.RPM into a .RPM if you want to utilize rpm to keep track of what is installed and their dependencies. It doesn't actually install the files, just builds them into a new .RPM. Once built you can then do the rpm --upgrade... > That does not seem correct.
