Could the images be just links in the pdf and not embedded? or is the page layout hiding the images from your printer? There are times that I have had the pictures origin so far up and to the left that it pushes the actual picture outside of the display window - pita. you can open the pdf with a text editor (or Bluefish) to see if the images are handled differently from the ones you do see.
