*Wrote a script*?

/dev/disk/by-id/ , /dev/disk/by-uuid/ , and the -L option to mount
are probably better solutions for that.  Movable disks get labels
written to their filesystems, unless they contain crypted FSes,
which means I have to fall back on /dev/disk/by-id/ .
