It takes AC in, puts DC out. It will list on it exactly what it can take in and put out. What you care most about is output wattage. The original factory one only puts out one voltage DC (or sometimes two). The "universal" ones have different tips, each tip "tells" the brick what kind of voltage is needed at that tip shape.
