I don't know if this helps or not, but typically I believe the
bootloader installs itself on the mbr of whatever disk boots first in
BIOS. So, one good place to start would be to check your BIOS config,
and see which drive is listed as your 'first boot choice' or somesuch.
I'd be willing to bet on that drive being a good place for your
bootloader.

Additionally, you can make sure the bootloader isn't actually someplace
else by getting/burning a copy of the Super Grub Disk, and use it's
linux boot rescue utilities to just try booting from each partition you
think the bootloader might be on. If you find one that gives you a Grub
menu, then 'thats a bingo'. otherwise, I'd bet it would be safe to
re-install your bootloader onto whatever drive is listed first in BIOS.
