Your question is not well-defined. What did you mean? If the disk is still working, but the CPU/motherboard isn't, you remove the disk, plug the disk into another machine, and do whatever you need to do there. If the disk has mechanical problems, dd_rescue might help retrieve more data from it. If the disk was part of a hardware RAID of some sort, you might have a lot of trouble retrieving data from it unless you have all the disks and a RAID controller of the exact same make and model.
