I was thinking about Ubuntu http://www.tesuji.org/thinkpad_w700.html was the only hit on tuxmobil.org for that laptop. Looks like most stuff works. > Specifically, the video card is NVIDIA Quadro FX 2700M and I'd be > curious if I can set up multi-head properly with this video card. You'll have to use the evil binary-only nVidia modules. I don't know how easy that'll be with Ubuntu. It was pretty easy to get TwinView working on my desktop with Gentoo and the evil binary-only modules, but dual-head is a bit different. I got that working on Steve's computer last year, but it required some manual tweaking of xorg.conf for everything to work right. The README that nVidia supplies with the evil binary-only module is pretty comprehensive and can solve a lot of config problems fairly easily. > On my Dell Latitude D630 (Quadro NVS 135M) I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 > and I can't get the VGA output to work correctly. First thing I'd try is to install a vanilla kernel, use that instead of the Ubuntu kernel, and use a more recent version of the evil modules. -- Matt G / Dances With Crows The Crow202 Blog: http://crow202.org/wordpress/ There is no Darkness in Eternity/But only Light too dim for us to see --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
