Learned to type on a card punch machine. Any missed key, and you got a blank card, duped up to your mistake, and continued. Missed keys cost a lot of time. Mainframe console was an IBM Selectric typewriter (with the ball). You had to type in a page worth of commands to boot DOS (IBM 360/44).
