Hi Stephen, I really appreciate your reply, although, with some help from a different mailing list (ubuntu-user) I was able to fix the problem last night. I was on the right track, I had 1 active/raid pair. I just needed to create 3 more, (boot, root, home, & swap). I had considered creating a boot partition that was not part of a RAID1 setup, however, I tried it this way first and it worked. Thanks. - MatthewMPP Stephen wrote: > from all the arrays i have made that is a bit more complicated that it > should be. > > but from my layout that has worked fro me in several flavors > > make sure the logical volumes that will be part of the array are the > same size (not sure if this is a requirement but it has made life > simpler) > > Make sure a /boot partition exists outside of the array, i have had > some issues when this is not done. > > create the partitions and when it asks for type choose Linux raid from > the partition manager. > > Then hit the raid manager and make your array and partition as needed > > > On Sun, May 24, 2009 at 8:29 AM, Matthew A Coulliette > wrote: > >> Hi all, >> >> Here is a link for setting up software raid for Ubuntu Server 9.04: >> http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/serverguide/C/advanced-installation.html >> >> I followed the instructions carefully.
