To get windows to boot again I would reinstall the windows boot loader on the windows disk (the version of windows that they are using) by booting to recovery and run the bootrec.exe /fixmbr. This is how I did it, but this is for vista xp and such is going to be different. This should work until u decide (and hopefully go back) in linux.
