I was able to use the DVD to install 8.10; when booting 8.10, to my surprise the DVD writer did not work! I will refer you to my bug report, rather than regurgitate it all here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dvd+rw-tools/+bug/307477 I have updated the kernel to 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:24:39 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux I have an ASUS N80Vx series laptop. It is a very nice laptop, even the 5 in 1 reader works. Only the DVD in ubuntu 8.10 doesn't. -- Happy Trails!
