I miss it too as do many other people.  One halfway reasonable
alternative from the command line is:

sudo lshw -html > ~/Desktop/lshwout.html

which makes a file you can open with a browser.  If you are only
interested in a subset of the information you can specify that.  See
the man page for lshw.
