What (if anything) does dmesg say about the drive immediately afterward? I haven't seen the tracksize: option used but I haven't burned a DVD in a few months. Try the same drive under 'Doze, and if it works there, it's a software problem or a problem with the media you're using. Seriously, I had some cheaper DVD+Rs that all seemed to have a defect on the outer edge, so burning anything larger than 3.9G failed miserably with them.
