A similar thing with eeePC. Asus offers no difference in price if you run Windows. I think M$ sees this as a major threat to their market share and are willing to do whatever it takes to stop Linux users from being created. You can be sure the high costs you are used to will be amortized over a longer period and embedded in difficult structures. On the positive side, this means you stand to have M$ eating out of your hand if you get in the low-cost laptop market. I consider it to be quite unscrupulous of the OLPC team to run programs like G1G1 and then sell out to M$. No wonder the OLPC president resigned. -jmz On Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 11:34 AM, Mike Garfias wrote: > http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/04/23/olpc-scrap-linux-windows > > Looks like they're going to ditch linux and run windows. > > Ugh. > --------------------------------------------------- > PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: > http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss > -- - http://www.joshuazeidner.com/ --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
