Ubuntu may just crank up the fan speed to avoid burning things up. It's better than the alternative. If you DO find a way, pay careful attention to make sure it runs the fan hard when the CPU gets hot. Right now you have an annoying but safe situation, and that's better than a pleasant but dangerous one. There *may* be a BIOS setting to cotrol how the fans are handled. I have that in my laptop. ymmv, and probably will. -- Darrin Chandler | Phoenix BSD User Group | MetaBUG dwchandler@stilyagin.com | http://phxbug.org/ | http://metabug.org/ http://www.stilyagin.com/ | Daemons in the Desert | Global BUG Federation --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
