IE vs Netscape was already mentioned. MS Word was free until Wordperfect was marginalized. I'm sure we can all put our heads together to come up with examples of Microsoft using monopoly power to squash competition or just find some articles on the net about it. But my point was that MS will do whatever it takes to stay the dominant OS. If that means giving the OS away for free they will do it. All of the MS stack runs on windows. So if you're willing to use a MS OS you're probably going to pay for the rest of the stack. If you are willing to use another OS you're probably not going to pay for MS software. They need to keep as many people as possible on MS Windows. - -- JT Morée PC Xperience, Inc. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFHQLub1JwGi/ukQqERAtaUAJ4jX0JfAzKXnmFzI44TKHCFqAyRgACgsCpz Yymv7m9Fwgt428ram3c/RTs= =K7Ug -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
