I forgot to mention, you can easily use Postfix on your Red Hat system 
also. Something like:

yum install postfix
alternatives --config mta  # manually choose postfix
/etc/init.d/sendmail stop
/etc/rc3.d/S80postfix start

(If you have stuff queued by sendmail, you will need to flush them.)
