I was able to get ndiswrapper working on a Ubuntu 7.04 X86-64 system 
with the Broadcom 4318 by following the instructions at Ndiswrapper 
setup <http://www.svecc.com/Slug%20PDF/ndiswrapper_setup_SLUG.pdf>
I definitely had problems when I forgot to do the blacklist step.
