Alan, Thanks for the tips but those things I already thought of (except the console setup, which I just tried and it has nothing about serial port config, just a re-hash of the options available at install.) The Network/Dialup page has settings for speed but nothing about low-level serial port config. Maybe serial modem support is one of those features they never thought anyone would actually use.
