I don't need sanity checking when I know I am being insane ;) But to address what is in the minds of many... And to discourage any newbe's out their... Yes it is crazy to run as root. However, when I log into my test machine as root it is with the explicit intent of being crazy, and when I intend to be crazy as a regular user I end up typing my password about once every two minuets, which is very annoying. The machine in question does not have any credentials outside of its' self (unless that is what I am working on testing) and I have full intent of wiping it out every six months or so and starting again. I also monitor the box along with every device on my network for bandwidth and protocol usage, and my monitoring is getting better every day (thank mostly to all of you guys). Like I said before I understand the risk of utterly destroying my test boxes installation and have learned much from utterly destroying it several times :) -----Original Message----- From: plug-discuss-bounces@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us [mailto:plug-discuss-bounces@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us] On Behalf Of Dan Lund Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2007 10:21 AM To: Main PLUG discussion list Subject: Re: Lock Screen as Root Turn the monitor off... Honestly, what your asking is a way to stop sanity checking.
