Hi, Josef. Boot from a Linux Live CD to repair your grub setup. I can't advise you on error 16, but any necessary changes can be made from a CD boot. Boot from *any* Windows disk in rescue mode to fix the mbr, but of course that only will get you back where you started. If you don't have such a disk, . . . where are you located? I'm sure something can be arranged . . . Sorry for lack of details, but keywords from above will lead to at least a backout path. Vic ---- Josef Lowder wrote: ============= . I just installed kubuntu from the live CD on an ibm t40 with xp (no install/rescue xp cd) and now have a grub error 16 so can't boot anything. I've searched the net, but have not found a way to restore mbr and salvage what is on the hd. Can't find a way to restore mbr on my knoppix cd. how can I fix this problem? --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change you mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
