I never had any elaborate preferences or anything set up in OOo so there was no question of "safe", nothing to lose in installing a new version. Also, he was asking how to 'safely' upgrade. Running Windows, and using a point-and-click interface to install software, really isn't very 'safe'. Ugly is trying to deal with the lack of line-wrap in your 'mail client'.
